Santa Needs You

Is anyone out there interested in knitting Santa Claus Santa stockings like these for hire?

SantaStockings.jpg

These stockings are made following the vintage Bernat pattern that I have on my website. Throughout most of the year, I get an inquiry every few weeks regarding whether I’d be willing to knit one of these stockings for pay. Now that Christmas is approaching, I’m getting a couple requests a week.

Knitting for money is not really my cup of tea, but I’m sure it’s somebody’s. If you’re interested in knitting stockings for hire, leave a comment to that effect and I will add you to the list of names that I give out to people who e-mail me. Then, if you’re contacted by a stranger about knitting a stocking, you can decide if you’d like to do it and can set your own schedule and prices. I encourage you to charge prices that value your time and skill appropriately!

In other news, I’m (gasp) almost finished with the February Lady Sweater. I’m hoping to wrap up the second sleeve soon and block the sweater tomorrow night. I’m looking forward to having my first finished object in a long time!

I am one of the many people trying to find someone to knit this particular stocking. My Grandmother made them for everyone in our family for years. She is now 100 and can not remember how to knit. My daughter recently married and we would love her husband to have one of these stockings. If someone is interested, I would gladly pay for the knitting. Additionally, I’d like to that you, Ruth for publishing the pattern as the one I had was the original that my Grandmother used and difficult to read. If anyone is interested in knitting this stocking, please contact me at the above e-mail address or call me at 925-408-9305. Thank you, Donna Murphy

Good luck finding people to make stockings for cash :)

My mother-in-law has me making 3 of the these for my niece and nephews, but she’s just reimbursing yarn costs, and I don’t really desire to be making more than this!

Thanks for posting the pattern! Our family has these stockings; my grandma started making them in the 50’s. I’m trying to learn how to make them so we can continue the tradition!

I wanted to thank you so much for having this pattern posted on your website! My great grand mother knitted this stocking for me when I was little and I really wanted to make the same stocking for my fiancee but I couldn’t find it any where.. until now! I think it will be an extremely special gift for him to kind of welcome him to my family!

    Thanks again!

Two family marriages mean it’s time to starting making Christmas stockings again. Over the years our pattern has been used and used again countless times. How nice to have a fresh copy to work with.

Thanks a million and happy New Year!

I’d like to also thank you for posting these patterns as well as the invaluable yarn substitute info! I also come from a family who has a long tradition (starting with my great-grandmother, actually, and moving down to my great-aunt…and hopefully now to me) of making these stockings! It’s so helpful to have these resources online! Thanks soo much for putting them up!
